Mask!
Mask! was a conceptual, experimental project I worked on from 2007 - 2011.
Loosely a device used to push me into spaces in which I felt uncomfortable and encourage others to join me. Performance, specifically improvised performance, and the ability not to break out of character when challenged with reality, was my aim.
Mask wearing offers the power to hide in plain sight, the opportunity to reject social compliance, and the ability to be either a different person entirely, or the person you are with no one watching.
The question I was asking - how easy is it to harness this method of escape? With no formal instruction, visitors were invited to join in my site-specific, improvised performances.

Mask! was performed in various venues across London and Edinburgh.
